Crafting Surfaces, Shaping Spaces – Our Partnership with Domus and Mutina.
We are excited to announce our partnership with Domus and Mutina, a company renowned for supplying the finest surfaces to landmark projects across the UK and beyond.
At On the Square, every surface tells a story—of heritage, craftsmanship, and the interplay between past and future. We are excited to announce our partnership with Domus, a company renowned for supplying the finest surfaces to landmark projects across the UK and beyond. Their expertise, in collaboration with the Italian ceramic design house Mutina, has helped us use porcelain tiles to reimagine the very fabric of this historic home.
A legacy of craftsmanship
Domus has long been a respected supplier of the best in ceramic design, representing a wide range of high-quality surface materials that blend innovation with timeless appeal. Mutina, a leader in Italian ceramic design, is equally dedicated to pushing the boundaries of design and innovation, collaborating with leading creatives to develop collections that challenge traditional perceptions of tiles.
Thresholds, Scale, and Illusion
Throughout On the Square, Mutina’s craftsmanship can be found at every threshold—literally and figuratively. Tiles from the Time range, designed by British duo Edward Barber and Jay Osgerby, have been applied in ways that play with scale, illusion, and the passage of time. Whether leading visitors through spaces or shifting seamlessly between indoors and out, these surfaces enhance the immersive nature of the house.
From Domus
"We are thrilled to announce our partnership with Domus, a company that is dedicated to supplying the very best surfaces to landmark projects in the UK and beyond. At On the Square, every surface is the result of a meticulous process of exploration, experimentation, and design—floor to ceiling, top to bottom—creating a unique immersive experience within the building’s 200-year-old envelope. For On the Square, Domus supplied porcelain tiles from its Italian partner Mutina. Mutina’s Time range, designed by the British duo Edward Barber and Jay Osgerby, has been imaginatively applied throughout the house, inside and outside, in four different configurations: Scale, Illusion, Threshold, and Worn. BarberOsgerby has worked with Mutina for over a decade and drew inspiration for the Time range from aspects of global geology and landscape. The range is deceptively simple, starting with a few basic options—three sizes, two finishes (rough and smooth), and eight colours—that together open up infinite possibilities."
About Domus
On the Square is the result of a meticulous process of exploration, experimentation, and design—floor to ceiling, top to bottom—creating a unique immersive experience within the building’s 200-year-old envelope. Hundreds of pieces from the Time collection have been imaginatively applied throughout the house, inside and outside, in four different configurations: Scale, Illusion, Threshold, and Worn. Time is a deceptively simple collection, starting with a few options—three sizes, two finishes (rough and smooth), and eight colours—that together open up infinite possibilities. To experience the power and impact of Time in person, join Domus at On the Square, or visit one of Domus’ two London showrooms – Clerkenwell or Battersea.
We are excited to share how these tiles reshape the experience of the home—from worn textures that echo the passage of time to illusions that shift perceptions of space.
